Weather Update: Meteorological Department forecasts extended rainfall till december 9 in Bengal

The Meteorological Department has issued a statement forecasting continued rainfall in Bengal's coastal districts, including Kolkata, attributed to the impact of cyclonic storm Michaung in the Bay of Bengal. The affected regions encompass Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, and East and West Medinipur.

This weather condition is anticipated to persist until December 9, although the department assures that the rainfall intensity will not pose significant threats to life or property. Paradoxically, despite the cyclone's influence and the ongoing rain, temperatures in the state are on the rise, contributing to a reduction in cold weather.

As of Wednesday, the Meteorological Department reported a minimum temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius in Kolkata, six degrees above normal, with a maximum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail until Friday.
